SG Financial Market Operations Apprenticeship Programme

Recent Polytechnic Graduates who join the SG Financial Market Operations Apprenticeship Programme will go through a 12-month learning and development journey. 

During this learning journey, you will embark on two 6 months rotations. You will be exposed to different projects and tasks, alongside structured trainings, mentorship and on-the-job learning. Financial Markets Operations (FMO) is a global team supporting the Financial Markets business providing solutions for foreign exchange, rates, commodities, credit, and financing and securities services products. We are differentiated by our unique footprint in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and US and support a number of client sectors including banks, investors, intermediaries, fund managers, insurance companies and corporates.

 As apprentice with Financial Market Operations (Singapore), core responsibilities include support the effective and efficient running of FMO activities related to Singapore Franchise. Core Responsibilities include

Strategy

Proactively engage and partner with our clients, business and across functions to enable solutions and booking models that help differentiate and accelerate income growth and new businesses enablement.  

Focus our improvement efforts on operational capabilities, reduce manual interventions and move towards digitization. 

Business

Responsible for assisting core business and performance deliverables for Singapore Financial Markets Operational activities, revenue enabler for new business growth. 

Processes

  •      Responsible for the preparation and submission of all assigned Regulatory Reports
  •      Collaborate closely with Compliance and Financial Market Operation Global Leads to review and identify potential reporting gaps for all new notices issued by Regulator that are related to Singapore Financial Market Operation activities.
  •      As part of the Balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation process, support the end to end processes of all Sundry & Suspense balances submitted in the Financial Control System (FCS).
  •      Support the monitoring, escalation, and resolution of significant Nostro, Sundry & Suspense, Trade & Position breaks
  •      Work closely with Business Risk Managers and Financial Market Operation Global Leads to address operation losses and ensure remediation plans address control gaps which impact activities related to Singapore Financial Market Operations.
  •       Responsible for the management & implementation of ad hoc projects assigned.

Lead by example to build the appropriate culture and values. Set the appropriate tone and expectations when interacting across functional teams and work in collaboration with stakeholders 

Risk Management

Work with global and functional teams to ensure Adherence to the regulatory/compliance/Risk and control requirement 

Ability to identify and escalate key issues in BAU activities and work with stakeholders to define actions plans to mitigate and track resolution where required.

Governance

The job holder will be supporting the product governance activities that cover the PPG / CA process, unit operations incident management, annual due diligence, Dept Outsourcing Management over GBS, HK and SG hubs

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Graduated with a Polytechnic Diploma with less than 2 years of working experience
  • Have the permanent legal right to work in Singapore
  • Keen interest in Banking and Finance industry
  • Processes excellent interpersonal skills, multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Independent worker who can demonstrate robustness in ethnics and resilience
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
