Role Responsibilities 

Job Summary

The Early Careers team is responsible for attracting, developing and deploying diverse early careers (EC) talent and deploying them into areas of strategic importance. This role is critical to partner with the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business to ensure their EC talent is high quality, drives return on tangible equity and brings innovation into the organisation. This role will also be responsible as the product owner for EC programmatic design, partnering with People Capability to ensure that candidates from all business streams transition effectively from education to employability, are effective quickly and deliver real business value. This role requires extensive senior level stakeholder relationship management, thought leadership in programme design and operational delivery.

Responsibilities 

Strategy

  • Formulate the programmatic strategy to ensure it delivers quality business ready talent that will drive return on tangible equity. 
  • Deliver an exceptional talent experience to those individuals on programme to ensure high quality, innovative programmatic interventions for example but not limited to – induction, ongoing learning, speaker series, coaching and management and the graduate development event.
  • Partner with Talent and Talent Deployment COEs and HRBPs to ensure effective retention and development strategies are put in place to ensure retention and development post programme.
  • Influence and engage the CCIB business to ensure their demand plan, quality of hires and programmatic strategy delivers quality candidates that are deployed into areas of strategic importance and drive return on tangible equity.
  • Drive strategic demand planning discussions with analytical rigour and partnership with the strategic resourcing partner.
  • Design and drive an effective pay review taking in a wide range of data analysis from competitors and across the markets in partnership with Performance, Reward and Benefits (PRB).
  • Bring thought leadership into the organisation to drive excellence in proposition design and programmatic design and delivery.

Business

  • Drive business and functional EC strategy to deliver talent agenda to help the franchise achieve it’s business goals.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across business and HR to become champions of the EC agenda and have stronger impact.

  • Ensure programme policies and standards are in compliance.

People & Talent

  • Build and manage a high performing team, managing employee engagement, development, succession and retention day-to-day.
  • Drive and embed a strong performance and risk management culture through inspiring, motivating, and rigorous management discipline.
  • Drive the right team behaviours, including global collaboration and customer focus.
  • Set clear direction for the team and implement a robust tracking, reporting and escalation framework.
  • Analyse dashboards, metrics and reporting to track progress, identify issues etc.
  • Provide regular updates to key business and HR stakeholders, promptly escalating key issues.
  • Build the bench-strength of the team.  Provide ongoing coaching and ensure the right development interventions are deployed, with all team members achieving the required certifications.
  • Ensure adherence to the Bank’s defined risk management frameworks.
  • Establishing a strong control and supervisory framework; developing, applying and measuring controls.
  • Actively engaging and collaborating with second and third-line functions , promptly reporting errors and potential risk and issues.
  • Proactively managing and mitigating root causes of issues and prioritising remediation efforts .
  • Finding opportunities for improvements to prevent issues from arising in the future.
  • Cooperating fully with requests from regulators and Group Internal Audit.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years and in-depth understanding of Corporate and or Investment Banking businesses and products
  • 5+ year experience within Early Careers Recruitment or Deployment within MNCs
  • 10+ years strong track record within or leading a team responsible for talent management and deployment programmes.

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of Corporate and or Investment Banking businesses and products
  • Experience within Early Careers Recruitment or Deployment within MNCs
  • Strong track record within or leading a team responsible for talent management and deployment programmes
  • Has preferably held a senior management position in delivering EC solutions in a large, international, blue-chip business.
  • Proven leader with demonstrated strengths and experience in coaching, managing and engaging a team to achieve superior performance.
  • Leading change, with strong project management experience.
  • Experience in working across a complex matrix organisation – strong consultative and negotiation skills combined with the proven ability to manage internal model complexity.
  • Proven delivery capabilities – track record of multi-tasking, prioritising, and setting and achieving deadlines (both short and long term).
  • Results-oriented.  Proven ability to manage numerous conflicting priorities, adapt rapidly and work well under high pressure in a fast-paced environment, while providing a quality customer service.
  • Significant relationship management: builds and maintains strong relationships across a wide range of demanding, senior and fast-paced stakeholders (internal and external) and harnesses these relationships in the best way possible.
  • Strong in operational control.  Proven ability to see the ‘big picture’, whilst simultaneously having close attention detail and ensuring effective operational delivery.
  • Analytical, proactive, problem solving approach combined with a proven ability to challenge in order to deliver business results.
  • Good business judgement and commercially minded.
  • Proven success in prioritising extensive and complex sets of issues, assessing risk and appropriate levels of return.
  • Proven experience in handling budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in and / or good general knowledge of the Financial Services industry and job market, preferably a strong background within Front Office businesses (eg. Financial Markets, Client Coverage, Financing, Transaction Banking).
