Singtel x Singapore Institute of Technology have embarked on a Work-Study Programme (WSP) launched in Feb 2023. The WSP is called “The Catalyst Programme” which is a structured on-the-job (OJT) development WSP that allows Polytechnic Diploma holders to secure a full-time position with Singtel while pursuing a university honours degree in BEng Infrastructure and Systems Engineering. This programme is open to Singtel’s internal employees as well as external polytechnic diploma holders preferably from the Engineering domain. Make an Impact by
- Plan and manage Data Centre High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) electrical system maintenance works and ensure all maintenance completed as per plan.
- Support the work approval process for service providers on maintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, supervise the work and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per standard operating procedures.
- Ensure all maintenance measures are implemented in compliance with industry standards and statutory requirements.
- Coordinates daily with a multitude of third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs and keep track of their performance.
- Available during emergency and critical events with 24/7 support for responds to all on-site incidents, including failures and problems. Collaborates with others to resolve facility incidents.
- Support on deep dive on the technical aspects to identify the root cause and implement mitigation plan to avoid repeated incidents.
- Coordinate and support on-site upgrade or tech refresh projects and including new infrastructure projects collaboration.
- Supports energy efficiency measures and plan to improve PUE & WUE.
- Contribute to achieve sustainability goals by reducing the waste and carbon emission.
- Actively focus to upskill on data centre industry latest technology and involved in on-job training to enhance knowledge and experience.
- Report the technical escalations to the Data Centre Maintenance Lead.
- Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to procure electrical components, equipment, and services. Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Champion a culture of safety consciousness and adherence to health and safety protocols in all electrical engineering activities.
- Participate in data centre audits on electrical system maintenance requirements.
Skills for Success
- A completed diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Electrical system operation and maintenance.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Ability to work effectively to all electrical system issues.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
